BlueGuard Security — Privacy Policy

BlueGuard Security LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BlueGuard Security mobile application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Bluetooth Data: BlueGuard scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. This data includes device identifiers (UUIDs assigned by iOS, not permanent MAC addresses), signal strength (RSSI), device names when broadcast, advertisement data, and discovered GATT services. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Location Data: If you grant location permission, BlueGuard uses your location for geofenced security zones and to associate BLE scans with physical locations. Location data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Biometric Data: If you enable biometric lock, BlueGuard uses Face ID or Touch ID through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessible to BlueGuard.

Sign in with Apple: If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user ID and, optionally, your name and email. This is used solely to associate your settings across devices.

How We Use Your Information

All BLE scanning and threat analysis is performed locally on your device
No BLE device data, scan results, or threat alerts are transmitted to any server
No personal data is sold, shared, or used for advertising
Location data is used only for geofencing features you explicitly configure
Crash analytics may be collected by Apple through standard iOS crash reporting if you have opted in via iOS Settings

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

Device history and alerts: Stored in the app's sandboxed Documents directory
Sensitive data (pairing codes, encryption keys): Stored in the iOS Keychain with kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly protection
User preferences: Stored in UserDefaults

No data is stored on external servers. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Data Sharing

BlueGuard does not share any data with third parties. If you use the SIEM export feature, you control where the exported data is sent. If you use the share/export features (PDF reports, CSV exports), you control the destination.

Hardware Dongle

The optional BlueGuard USB dongle communicates with the app via USB HID and CDC protocols. Communication between the app and dongle is authenticated using App Attest and secured with ECDSA keys stored in the dongle's hardware secure element. No dongle data is transmitted to our servers.

Children's Privacy

BlueGuard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
